SAFER
Including virtual reality in your training protocols offers a safer learning environment, especially for new hires, where trainees can practice in real-world scenarios without risking harm to themselves or to clients.
A VR environment allows for controlled exposure to severe—and sometimes dangerous behaviors—such as self-injury, physical aggression, elopement, and property destruction in a safe setting for learners to develop their skills while removing the risks and limiting liability associated with these behaviors.
CHEAPER
Trainees can begin by observing a wide variety of situations and skills, eventually transitioning to practicing all of those same skills in a virtual space.
Learners can practice on their own, as much as needed, until they can demonstrate fluency, thus greatly reducing the training resources typically needed to achieve these same results.

EFFECTIVE
Behavior Analysts know that learners need to practice to master new skills and Behavioral Skills Training (BST) has proven to be an effective method for teaching new skills.
Using VR, trainees can receive instruction, observe well-trained virtual staff and their “clients” and then practice with guidance and support in the virtual environment.
Subsequent feedback can also be provided both in the VR training environment and by live trainers, such as BCBAs who can review the results.
EFFICIENT
Virtual reality training lessons can be completed asynchronously—basically whenever convenient for the trainee, at their convenience, on their own schedule.
So, in addition to the effectiveness, the cost savings, and the reduced risk, learners can also complete much of their training more efficiently.
A fully immersive environment also provides opportunities to measure performance that might otherwise be difficult to capture.
Trainers and supervisors will have more and better data to help make hiring and placement decisions. Because many organizations struggle with the timing of hiring, training, and onboarding new clients, the efficiencies that virtual reality can add have operational benefits as well.
